2024 is a very important year for FORM as we aim to grow our Community Development Activity series and develop specific types of events to benefit all our different stakeholders groups.
We launched the Community Development Activity series in 2023, with 8 collaborative events organised in partnership with some of the most important and influential non-profit companies and NGO groups involved in Open Science around the world. We have had thousands of researchers librarians, policymakers and Open Science advocates from 65 countries attend our activities. And we are delighted that 96% of attendees found the events valuable and would like to have more of them, and 97% of attendees have found the events effective, and are already applying what they have learnt in their workplace!

However, we are also listening to what our stakeholders need, and have structured our 2024 activities to meet as many requests as possible.
Therefore our 2024 Community Development Activity series will include three types of activity:
- Symposia. These are longer events addressing major themes, with multiple speakers offering different insights and approaches. These broad-spectrum events are open to everyone.
- ‘How to Be Open’ workshop series. These workshops are focused on actionable insights and the practical application of knowledge. Each workshop will target a specific stakeholder group, and have a limited number of spaces. These workshops will come with a certificate
- FORM coffee hours. Sometimes its helpful to take time to network and discuss our plans and challenges with our peers. These coffee hours will take place on our Slack Community Channel, and allow our stakeholders to talk about their plans and identify where we – and the wider Open Science community – can provide support.
