Announcing the Call for Papers for the 3rd Annual Forum for Open Research (2024)

With just 201 days to go before the 2024 Annual Forum, the 3rd in our series, we are very excited to announce the Call for Papers!

The theme of this year’s conference is Transforming Knowledge into Action. We chose this theme to reflect the proactive growth which we have already seen across the Arab region, as more open science communities are established and more higher education institutions move to embrace open science policies and practises. We also feel this theme aligns well with the messages we have received from our wider network; many of you have emphasised the importance of (and need for) practical guidelines and actionable insights to help you support the advancement of open science activities in your research communities and institutions.

We have highlighted 4 thematic areas for this year’s Annual Forum, reflecting the priorities of our members and wider network across the Arab states:

  • Policies and funding
  • Open Access publishing and open education resources
  • Capacity building and community engagement
  • Open infrastructure and infrastructure supporting Open Science

The goal of this conference is to bring together librarians, researchers, policy makers and university leaders, to support the exchange of ideas, and facilitate the development of new collaborative communities and partnerships.

The 3rd Annual Forum will be held in Doha, Qatar, in partnership with the Qatar National Library. It will take place between the 21st and 24th of October. For more information about the event, please visit the Annual Forum website.
