Dates and Location Confirmed for 2023 Annual Forum

The 2023 Annual Forum will take place on the 23rd and 24th of October, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Every year, we hold the Forum in a different Arab State, to enable all researchers, librarians, and Open Science champions to have the opportunity to attend in person (as well as online).

In 2022, we held the Forum in Cairo, Egypt, with the support of UNESCO and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank) was a huge success, bringing together 50 speakers and over 1,100 delegates from 48 countries across the world.

This year, we have chosen the UAE. Our decision was based on the country’s substantial support for the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and UNESCO’s Open Science recommendations, which are visible in the noteworthy developments in the Open Science arena at the institutional level, with organisations such as Khalifa University and the Dubai Health Authority inter alia making significant advances in Open Access publishing policies and practices.

Therefore, we are delighted to be able to hold the 2023 Annual Forum in Abu Dhabi, on the 23rd and 24th of October (ensuring the event is part of International Open Access Week).

Full details of the Annual Forum, together with the Call for Papers, will be made available shortly. In the meantime, have a look at the Gallery and Presentations from last year’s excellent event here.
