Workshops at the 3rd Annual Forum

This year’s Annual Forum for Open Research (taking place 21st to 24th October in Doha, in partnership with the Qatar National Library) has been extended by an extra day so we can offer a series of high-impact workshops for our network and stakeholders.

These workshops will be included in the cost of the conference registration, and will be delivered by world-class experts. Each workshop is designed to offer valuable and practical guidance and actionable insights, and serve as an extension of our existing capacity building programme (via our Community Development Activities).

Workshop 1 will be from Rick Anderson, Senior Librarian at Brigham Young University, past president of NASIG and of the Society for Scholarly Publishing, and a member of the excellent Scholarly Kitchen team. Rick will offer a foundational workshop for researchers and librarians on the different types of open access publishing models, their benefits and potential challenges and pitfalls.

Workshop 2 will be delivered by members of the Qatar National Library team offering insights and practical guidelines on how to develop an institutional repository. This workshop is designed for librarians, and will cover what to think about and how to get started – and also touch on how to ensure the repository is actually used by your institution’s academics!

The workshop programme is still being expanded, so keep an eye out on our Programme for more details!

We hope you will register for the 3rd Annual Forum for Open Research, and join us in person or online, and enjoy these excellent workshops (and the rest of our fantastic programme)
