Launching an Open Access Journal:
Why & How to Do It
Publishing journals is a key method of showcasing an institution’s scholarly outputs, increasing its prestige, and supporting better rankings. But it can be difficult for an institution to launch, manage, and promote a successful high-impact journal which meets international academic standards and has a global audience of academics and professionals.
This workshop, delivered in partnership with Knowledge E’s expert publishing division, provided a helpful introduction into how to launch a diamond open access journal.
What you will learn:
- How to identify your journal’s niche, write the scope and choose the title
- Building the editorial board and sourcing reviewers
- How to set up your journal on OJS
- Planning and implementing basic workflows and production schedules
- Indexing and archiving
- Longer term development strategies
